If you like Van Morrisson, and are also a fan of irish music, then this is a great album for you. Loads of excellent tracks on this album, including the Great SOng Of Indifference. The slower tracks are on a Van Morrison style and are nice and mellow. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.

Customer Review: Got it’s first use on the day I recieved it
This is a great place to start with mediterranean cookery. The recipes are easy to follow and sound delicious. The food is put into a social and historical context too. I immediately spotted the recipe for drunken figs (substituting dried figs for fresh and port for brandy) to make for a party I was attending the day I got the book. They were delicious and went down very well with my friends. You will be well rewarded by this book - it has prompted me to buy Paola Gavin’s other cookbooks too.
Customer Review: Simple, fresh ingredients well-prepared
Really, really love this book! As well as the Mediterranean countries you’d expect it also draws from the cuisine of lesser-known places such as Croatia and Northern Africa, and the introduction includes a few pages on the food traditions of each country. Every recipe not only sounds delicious but is often incredibly simple to make; most of them are very vegetable-based. Flicking through the recipes you start to understand the secret of Mediterranean food - simple, fresh ingredients well-prepared. And it is so unbelievably satisfying to cook this way - making the most of what you have and ending up with a delicious and very nutritious meal. And the Mediterranean diet is very well-suited to a vegetarian regime as meat has often been scarce in these countries while vegetables and pulses have been abundant; these well-balanced dishes are no poor substitute for a meat equivalent but what people have been working away at and happily eating for centuries! There are lots of fantastic desserts too - this is a cookbook you can really live by every day rather than a coffe-table novelty. The only complaints I have are that: a) There are no illustrations of the food anywhere (although, to be fair, you can often tell what it is supposed to look like just by reading the ingredients when it is a vegetable dish), and b) Quite annoying this one - as it is an American book, you have to wade through confusing imperial measurements and ‘cups’ of things, as well as ‘eggplants’ and ‘zucchinis’ etc., so it’s best if you have a scale with imperial on, or a conversion guide.

Customer Review: An essential book for new vegetarians

Customer Review: Better than the others!
This book is quick and easy to read, well written, interesting and inspiring. It’s not a cookery book as such - but it is packed with simple recipes interspersed amongst the text. I bought three vegetarian weight loss books in one go, and this is by far the best. The only down side is that there’s no index in the back for the recipes, but you’ll enjoy going back through the book to find them later.

Customer Review: More than a cookbook
What a fantastic book ! I paid less than ?3.00 for this book from Doonhill books and received a brand new, beautiful, big, well illustrated vegan/veggie cook book plus so much more ! I am going to read it again from start to finish as there is so much more interesting information given to the reader ( if you are already into yoga you’ll love it and if you’re not it’s a great cook book ! ) than just recipes. Can’t praise it enough ; please authors, write more !
Customer Review: Wonderful, Inspiring Cookbook
True to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, this is a beautiful, in-depth book on Kundalini Yoga. Academic, insightful and very informative, yet the recipes are creative, fun and imaginative. Making Healing Water as described by the author was something I introduced to my students, and they loved it. I wanted a book on Kundalini Yoga, and I got more than what I had expected. This is the total Kundalini Yoga book, not just a cookbook. It is worth its price. I am looking forward to the sequel.

Customer Review: Excellent source of info and very clear
I have been a vegetarian for 7 years, but this is the first nutrition book I’ve bought. It has taught me so many new facts about different foods and what nutrients they contain, nearly all plant foods contain protein, I always thought it was only nuts and legumes! This book is clear and well laid out. Its not too biased either, and just states the facts. It has plenty of clear tables comparing nutritional values of different foods, and tells you what pattern of nutrients you need to be healthy. It has chapters on protein, minerals (iron, zinc especially), calcium, vitamins from fruits and vegetables, vitamin B12, also info about the vegetarian diet for all stages of life. It provides examples of good daily food plans, and has some recipes at the back too. Reading this book has taught me so much new information, and my diet is much the better for it. I am now so much better informed about nutrition than most meat-eating people I know, so I am very well equiped to answer all those questions about where I will get my protein/iron/calcium from. Finally, I now feel very confident in my choice to become a vegetarian because I can see now how easy it is to get a balanced and healthy plant-based diet. I definately recommend this book!
Customer Review: Be A Healthy Vegetarian
Being a HEALTHY vegetarian is very important. I have been a vegetarian for two years and feel so full of life. This book proves that the myth of ‘underweight, malnutritioned’ vegetarians is false. It tells you what you need to eat to keep your energy levels up, and what to eat to keep protein levels high, which is really tricky for vegetarians, since this is where meat usually comes in. This is Davis and Melina’s second book on being vegetarian. They are very similar but in my opinion you should buy this version as it is more concise for new vegetarians.

Customer Review: Buy the other one
This is not a bad book. But Amadea Morningstar’s first Ayurvedic Cookbook is a classic. It’s brilliant. This tries to do a similar thing but to “westernise” the food and to me it just doesn’t work. I have both this and her first book. The first one gets constant use. This sits on my shelf and gets pulled down every so often, only to be returned. I can see what she wants to do. To produce recipes which are apprpriate for people who don’t like Indian food. But the recipes in her first book bear no resemblence to what gets served up in Britain’s curry houses. So even if you think you don’t like Indian food, I’d bet you’d like most of the recipes in the first book. So this one just seems redundant.
Customer Review: An excellent resource
This is a super book for people interested in Ayurveda who think this health system can be followed using only Indian foods. Morningstar prooves this myth wrong. Her recipes are familiar and are coupled with a wealth of interesting and useful information. I’m glad I have this book on my shelf.

Customer Review: No need for shock tactics. The facts speak loud and clear.
A fabulous read. Unlike many other vegan authors, Erik Markus makes the case for veganism (extremely well) by stating the facts. The book is all the more powerful for the matter of fact approach Markus adopts. Buy it now. If you’re thinking about becoming vegan, this book will confirm time and again, that you’ll be making the right choice.
Customer Review: A must-read…
Erik Marcus hits the nail on the head with this book. As a vegetarian making the transition to veganism, this book not only answered my questions about veganism (such as, will I get enough calcium?), but it also re-enforced my reasons for choosing to go vegan in the first place: to do my part in healing the planet. I applaud this book and I encourage anyone who cares about either the environment, animal welfare, their own health, or even weight loss to read this book.

Customer Review: Lots of “crowd pleasing” recipes!
I learned about this book from my local Raw Food Group that has potlucks once a month. My friend and I have served a few dishes from this book at that event and other events and everyone raves about the “eggless egg salad” (I LOVE IT myself). Also, the “raw tacos”, “Thai Salad” (another TO DIE FOR recipe) and the “pierogies” are amazing! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made these recipes. I think that each recipe in the book has a picture of how it looks prepared. I love that in a cook book! I’ve definietly gotten my money’s worth out of it!
Customer Review: Rawvolution
I thought this book was extremely well presented and have tried some of the recipes. The downside is that there weren’t really that many recipes, I thought there might been a larger selection, but it was the first raw book I bought, so my hunt continues.

Customer Review: Definitely going the right way, however UK sourcing is a nightmare.
Their sentiment is sound and the writing style invigorating. I’ve tried a number of recipes but tend to go for the simpler ones bc of the time to a)soak and b)dehydrate involved for many of the dishes. The greatest problem for us raw vegans in the UK is sourcing - whilst they list US websites, they don’t do similar for the UK and I’ve only had partial success finding even half the ingredients they talk about. So be warned!
Customer Review: I would love to be able to follow it
Lovely book. Great photos. The only down side is that for most recipies you would need special equipment like a dehydrator.

Customer Review: Vegetarian food for blokes
I own both the Caf? Paradiso books and cannot rate them highly enough. It’s true that few of the recipes are quick - they are taken from the restaurant and do involve plenty of prep - but the end results are incredible. It struck me recently that whenever I want to cook a vegetarian meal, recipes from either book always go down well with my husband. In contrast, most other vegetarian cook books are compiled by women and the recipes leave the average man unsatisfied! I love this book for being able to focus on a vegetable that’s in season. I love both of the books for providing an entire well-balanced meal in each recipe.
Customer Review: Lovely Food
The secret, I think, of good vegetarian food is to produce a dish where there is no place for meat and, if it was there, it would be out of place. Denis Cotter does just this. In both this and his previous book he produces superb, complete dishes that really show what can be done with vegetables. Of the two books, I prefer his previous one (Cafe Paradiso Cookbook) but the difference between the two is pretty marginal. The recipes are imaginative, colourful and above all, tasty. Some of them are a bit fiddly, but the effort is rewarded when you tuck into the finished dish. I’ve been lucky enough to eat at his restaurant, and it is well worth a visit. And while you’re there, stock up on the various local ingredients to use in the recipes when you get home.

Customer Review: oily
oily. one of the pouches was like oily, overcooked, mush. I though it went bad and i couldn’t finish the box I bought. I would not recommend this.
Customer Review: Great company to support read below
FYI found this on the net interesting. Tasty product also. Baji’s founder, Paul Jaggi, was inspired by his hard-working mother, who never failed to put fresh, delicious, nutritious food on the table for Paul and his 11 siblings, slaving away with a patient smile on her face. He named his company after her and other dedicated moms (baji, pronounced BAH-jee) is a term of endearment for “mom” in many parts of India, and what Paul called his mother. He then created a line of rice dishes that are very flavorful, nutritious and ridiculously simple to prepare–just microwave–so today’s moms will have an easier time of it. Paul’s baji created wholesome comfort meals day after day, using authentic spices and natural ingredients; Baji’s products do the same. The flavorful dishes are also conveniently packaged in microwaveable pouches so there’s no mess. What mom (or dad, or single person) wouldn’t love that? Baji Jaggi was always passionate about those less fortunate. The company named after her donates a portion of products sales to a charity that focuses on the education and nutrition of underprivileged children and women in Delhi, India, providing education, nutritious meals and job training. Another recipient is an international charity working with more than 250 organizations around the globe to help improve the quality of education for children in third world countries. So, every bite of Baji’s basmati rice dishes does double duty, feeding you and, indirectly, someone less fortunate. Spanish Paella. You won’t find much saffron in this version of paella, but it’s still a tasty rice dish, with subtle notes of garlic, pepper, onions and peas. This particular flavor would be a great base for added protein–even simple slices of sausage or a few shrimp or scallops. We’d suggest integrating them in a pan along with the rice. You can layer additional paella elements as well–scallops, mussels and chicken are traditional. We also added slices of roasted red pepper (pimento), straight from the jar. If you’re looking to spice up dinner, we can’t think of a better–or easier–way than Baji’s Rice Meals.
