Till now there are no side effects known but daily use and for long periods of hoodia pills may lead to some dangerous results.
The researchers, doing research work on Hoodia pills, reported that Hoodia Gordonii did not affect the physical condition and health in adverse manner. There was not any bad taste felt in a mouth, no pain felt in stomach and no palpitation. The hunger reduced without affecting the thirst.
The side effects of Hoodia gordonii have not been determined for the pregnant women or nursing women. A woman should avoid the products that contain Hooida if she is pregnant or in nursing stage. But in case if these products are required, extreme care and caution should be exercised along with having the doctor consulted at very beginning.
As the hunger gets suppressed, the intake of some necessary vitamins and nutrients may get reduced. Due to this reason, Hoodia products are not prescribed for children, pregnant and nursing women and persons who are underweight.
Also the individuals suffering with diabetes, anorexia, bulimia, heart problems and bleeding disorder are prescribed not to use these supplements.

The over dose of these pills makes the dieter to eat much less food even less than the required. Thus the body gets deprived of calories required to keep up the metabolic activities running inside the body. As the metabolic activities slow down, the body burns fewer calories and whatever is eaten is stored in the form of fat thereby increasing the weight.
