Customer Review: Another thing I just had to buy a second one of–for my mother
I have my own copy of this pair of scissors and I just bought another for my mother since I’ve been so happy with my set for the past year. The scissors are robust and can cut pretty much anything in the kitchen. My wife is afraid I’ll take it out to cut roofing or aluminum siding, and I think it would do a fine job. The blades are so well machined and the tolerances so close that I have used it to cut Saran wrap. And (don’t tell my wife) on a couple of occasions I’ve used it to trim my fingernails.

It has a bottle opener in the middle, and though we seldom have bottles that require the old fashioned bottle-opener, I’m glad I have this for the ocassional imported beer or what-have-you. I’ve not used the serrated “gripper” in the handle yet, but tonight I’m going to try it as a nut-cracker–I think it will work well with pecans.

These are great, heavy-duty kitchen utility scissors. So good, my previous pair disappeared under suspicious conditions by small hands for kid projects. They feel just right in the hand, and I haven’t found anything yet they wont cut easily.

We were renting a temporary building for extra office space and needed a quick fix for the front windows. These install easily and look great. Even after hanging a few weeks they do not unfold all the way to the bottom of the window. I went out, bought some velcro tabs and installed the velcro at the bottom of the window. Now when I want them all the way down I just velcro them and no one can even notice. I used a velcro tab every 12 inches or so to keep the bottom from buckling.
Customer Review: Not what I expected
I bought this based on the review I read hoping to use this in my office cubicle. Well, it’s all that the reviewer said, a nice easy to use shade that will block out a view but it’s accordian style and it doesn’t unfold the full 72 inches. That’s a disappointment to me. I have to literally stretch it out and then hold it down with a heavy object to keep it down thus taking out the nice accordian look making it look more like a piece of paper/fabric I’d just put up rather than the fitted blind it was supposed to look like so it’s not really going to work for me. If you want a long accordian style blind that you can’t really raise of lift easily just for a temporary solution such as when you’re moving it’s okay. If you have tall windows and have something to hold the bottom down so it covers the entire window and you don’t mind having a heavy object marring the look then go for it. I think the 72″ really amounts to 40″ to 45″ so buy with that in mind. I can’t imagine how short the 36″ blind would be. Also, I have yet to leave it unfurled for longer than an hour so maybe in time it will fall into it’s full 72″ but if so I’ve no idea how long it may be required to hang till that happens.

- Shows cut marks very easily, I have used mine for about a month and it is already showing signs of serious wear. The cutting board is still working and doing its job, but just doesn’t look new. Compared to a cheap regular polyethylene cutting board, the plastic definitely shows less sign of wear!

- It is so light that cutting on it feels like cutting on a glass surface which I don’t like. I like the feeling of cutting on a wooden board or a plastic board more, there’s less “shock”.

Customer Review: Ben 10 fan’s fun toy
My 6-year-old LOVES Ben 10, so I got him this DVD game. I, as an adult, find it boring and repetative. But he and his older cousins (7 and 10) enjoyed it. A few times the game decided he got an answer wrong, even though he pushed the right button on his remote control. The game can take quite a while to win, but it is possible to collect all 13 aliens. This game is doable for kids younger than the 7 and up age limit on the box, as good reading skills are not necessary (only instruction by an adult for the first few games). Manual dexterity (ie, pushing one button very fast for a minute or so) is necessary. He might grow tired of it in the near future, but so far so good. I don’t think it would be a good choice for anyone older than 7 if you want the toy’s interest to last for long, however.

These earphones are good for what they are priced. I had the same problem of the rubber buds falling off and then the metal screens falling out. Though the sound quality wasn’t affected, the quality of the way they are built doesn’t impress me. Also they fit uncomfortably in my ear. I haven’t had problems with other ear buds, maybe they just make these smaller than other ear buds.

If you have smaller ears, these aren’t for you. Admittedly, buying earbud headphones has been troublesome for me because my ears are smaller than average, so I expected to meet with problems when I ordered these. The part that wraps around the ear is actually very flexible, but far too large, and the actual “buds” are big with the cushions attached (remove the cushions, and they aren’t bad). The sound was average, not mind-blowing. Add another set of headphones to the casualty list.

I love it. My vinyl floor covering has small grooves in it & almost impossible to clean, even with a nylon scrubber. This machine does a fantastic job as it has removed all the previous floor cleaners. We can now see the difference of the clean white/dirty yellow. My sons and daughter ages 9,12,17 and 20 all have these and they LOVE them. They have so much fun using them. We frequently take short trips to the nearby Disney Resorts for vacation and they always take their Ripsticks along to ride there. I saw these kitchen shears and since the price was great ($6) and I go through scissors in the kitchen like crazy, I ordered a pair. They are amazing!

They cut easily and cleanly. The handles are ergonomically designed and extremely comfortable. But the most unique feature is that they come apart. I love this!

Since I use kitchen shears for almost everything, including cutting cooked pizza, being able to take them apart for cleaning is wonderful and a real timesaver. But the best feature is that it’s easy to take them apart and use a knife steel on the edge every time I use them to keep them sharp. If I do manage to nick the blades, I can easily sharpen them with the blades taken apart.

You can also use the Santoku side as a knife. As another reviewer noted, only one edge is sharp and the blade is pretty thick so it’s not a great knife. But it will chop salad greens, cut butter, cut a sandwich in half, etc.

All in all, I think these are very sturdy kitchen shears at very attractive price. The unique features make this an easy choice if you need new shears.

I owned the Franklin DBE 1440 for years and was happy with it, even though it had a dim screen that was at times hard to read in low light situations. Lost the 1440, so I purchased a DBE 1450, the newer model. HATED it. Screen was larger, but dimmer and even HARDER to read, also buttons less intuitively placed on the 1440. So, just bought the DBE 450U, this model. Although has fewer words and functions than the more expensive 1450 model, the little 450U conjugates most tenses, defines all the words I’ve needed so far as an advanced Spanish speaker, and best of all, although the screen is dim, the 450U utilizes a much larger screen FONT than the 1450, so its EASIER TO READ.

I am fairly discerning music listener though by no means am I a car audiophile. I also tend to avoid Sony products as I find that the company is unable to offer any degree of consistent quality. I purchased the GT200 for my 26 year old Volvo and connected it to some basic, but new, Panasonic speakers (two - 4″ and two - 6″). I am thoroughly impressed with the Sony GT200. It is fairly simple to install and to operate and truly a pleasure to listen to. The remote control is useful if you have a 10 year old in the back seat and you can handle rapid-fire channel surfing through the pop stations; I advise you get a magnet to store the remote somewhere in the car before it ends up under the rear seat. The radio reception has been exceptional. For the price I would highly recommend this machine.

The only negative comment that I can offer is that LED display is irritating though not as garish as some that I’ve seem. I wish that the manufactures would allow for a more tasteful display though perhaps the machine’s programming allows for this. I am a male and true to my stereotype I have yet to have read the instructions.

Customer Review: BUY THIS IF YOU OWN AN IPOD!
I predicted a 2 1/2 years ago that after the masses get their ipods, every car stereo deck would have a miniplug line-in within the next year. Boy was I wrong. There are currently $100 adapters, crappy radio transmitters, tape inputs and more workarounds I care not to think about. What in god’s name are they all thinking? I have no idea, but all they need to do is put a miniplug line-in on the front of the deck or include an RCA line-in. After doing this you will laugh at those that use the aforementioned means of transmission with your newfound sound quality.

Enter Sony(also Aiwa I think, maybe others)

Buy this $100 Sony or comparable unit and buy a mini plug cord with 2 mail ends at Radio Shack for $4. Plug your ipod into one end and the onther end goes into the front of the deck and voila! You’ve just increased sound quality by about a 3-4x!

HIGHS: price/value ratio, good ipod sound(miniplug input SOOO much better than radio transmitter), sub vol control, rotary volume control, looks good, 3 EQs, good power
LOWS: sound quality could be cleaner, skip/search buttons could be a little bigger/better

SPEAKING TO PREVIOUS NEGATIVE POSTS:

1. The bass IS controllabe via 3 band equallizer(its not labelled BASS so don’t look for the bass button)What the poster failed to realize is that LOW MED and HIGH represent various frequency ranges. LOW = Bass so I recommend that guy turn up the LOW setting.

2. In car audio, many times you are running a lot of powered metal wires over a metal body near other powered metal wires. This can lead to INTERFERANCE. Try rerouting, rewiring, checking your components, etc, I seriously doubt its the deck. In his defense, the mfg of car audio didn’t make it the easiest to wire our new toys, did they?

3. I’m not a schill for Sony I actually don’t like some of their practices, its just a good value for the money.

Customer Review: Good Blind for the money
My blinds were shipped separately in two massive boxes, so mine weren’t damaged. To cut to length, I would definitely recommend a hand saw. I used a serrated utility knife, since I don’t have a hand saw. These are not nearly as “light blocking” as many of my other blinds. They work well at night if you live near a parking lot that is well lit. However, during the day they let in a lot of light. You may want to get the block out blinds if you like to sleep in and are sensitive to light. They are easy to install and look great.
Customer Review: Too fragile to Ship
I order much from Amazon due to ease of shopping and their Prime program. I should not have ordered these however. I ordered a total of 5 Temporary shades and they came in five seperate UPS shipments all on the same 2 day delivery. Two of the 48 inch shades came wrapped only in plastic. They arrived bent and I notified Amazon who, as always, honored their free return policy for damaged goods. Unfortunately the only way they can be returned is by USPostal Service and it is a pain to rewrap so that the USPS will accept. Foolishly I decided to allow Amazon to try replacing the damaged shades. The replacements are coming in two seperate shipments, one UPS and the other USPS???? (go figure) and could take a week for the USPS one to arrive(so much for Amazon Prime here). So over a week later I still do not have shades I ordered for a remodeled house. CAUTION about ordering fragile and bulky items like this that can not be boxed. UPDATE: the two replacements arrived today and both were again bent and had to be returned. Those replacements were also sent without any protection other than plastic wrap and thus both were damaged in shipping.
